MEETING IN TURKEY

MEETING IN ALIAGA, TURKEY 10th September 2011- 16 September 2011


The Project meeting in Aliaga, Turkey was the first one within the second year of the European Comenius program entitled «Hand in Hand for the Environment Protection» . Two teachers and two students from Spain took part in this project meeting. Our students were hosted by two families involved in the project and both remarked the kindness and hospitality of Turkish people.
During this meeting the activities to take place until the middle of the current school year (2011-2012) including the next meeting were carefully planned .
Some of the tasks undertaken during the working meetings were:
  • Each school made a presentation on the activities and dissemination of results on the International Day of the Danube, Sun Day and Sea Day. Spain presented its work on Sun Day: our students made pannels with questions about the Sea and went into the streets to interview local people on this topic.
  • Dates for future meetings were agreed: Italy (November 2011) and Spain (March 2012).
  • All participants reviewed and discussed activities for the second year of the project, assigning tasks for each country and speaking about the final conclusiones
  • We concentrated on the next task to be undertaken: research on energy. All Partners would work on common questions and Italy would sumaries the results.
  • We agreed how to renew and improve our website.
As for study visits we were taken to Aliaga Ship breaking Recycling Yard , to the Recycling Centre of Petkim and to the wind park Yuntdagi in Bergama. In all these places we were offered guided tours with useful explanations. The Turkish team also organizad for us a Boat Trip to Ayvalık Islands ( protected area) through the Aegean coast.
Besides all the above mentioned visits we could admire Ephesus and the town of Izmir.

This fourth project meeting was regarded by the Spanish meeting as very useful and unforgettable, thanks to our warm, hospitable Turkish friends.

Our students made some work to sumarise their experience in Turkey.
