RECYCLING CONTEST

We organised a recycling contest among our students which took place during November and December 2010. Each week teachers involved in Comenius project, weighed the materials brought by students and taught them in which containers they had to deposit the different kind of waste. Our students brought plastic waste, paper and cardboard waste, empty cans and batteries. The last ones were kept in our school and taken away by people from ¿???

The contest was a complete success. By the end of it our school had collected 81,82 kgs of plastic waste, 349,6 kgs of paper and cardboard waste, 13, 35 kgs of cans and 217,75 kgs of batteries.

Before giving the prizes to the winners we made them aware of their environmental contribution: they had saved 24,47 trees, 10,488 litres of water, 996,73 kgs of CO2 emissions, 40,91 kgs of oil, 9,50 kwh and 1818212,5 m3 of non polluted water.

Spain also undertook the task of summarising and analysing all the results of our Partners. They appear in the related outcome.

The local press published an article which can be seen in this website. Through this contest we did not only make students aware of the importante of recycling but also their families and the local comunity.

We include some photos taken during this contest.
